Emerald is a precious green gemstone from the beryl family, valued for its rich, vivid green colour caused by chromium and vanadium. It has a hardness of 7.5-8, but often contains inclusions known as "jardin", making it more delicate than other gems. Emeralds are primarily sourced from Colombia, Zambia, and Brazil, and are often treated with oil to enhance clarity.
